Pastor

   From the Pastor

My name is Lloyd Carroll, I have had the privilege of being the pastor of Topsy Baptist Church for over 20 years.  I am proud to say we have a congregation of God fearing, bible believing members who love people.

We are mission minded people who support missions in many different way.  We give generously to state, national, and foreign missions.  Members of this church have been on mission trips to Arizona, Honduras, and Zimbabwe, Africa.  We have several members of the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief team. Some serve on the food service team and others are with the chainsaw ministry.

My greatest pleasure has been and is serving along side members who believe in a risen Savior, who bleed and died on a cruel cross to save us from our sins.  We believe in the absolute truth of God’s holy word, the resurrection of Christ, and know that He is coming back soon.

If you don’t have a place to worship, we would love to have you worship with us.  We promise to make you feel loved and welcomed.

Missions and Ministries

Lottie Moon

Charlotte Digges "Lottie" Moon (December 12, 1840 – December 24, 1912) was a Southern Baptist missionary to China with the Foreign Mission Board who spent nearly 40 years (1873–1912) living and working in China. As a teacher and evangelist she laid a foundation for traditionally solid support for missions among Southern Baptists, especially through its Woman's Missionary Union.

Georgia Barnette

Following God’s plan for her life led Georgia Barnette to New Orleans, Louisiana. It was October of 1901 when she arrived at First Baptist Church in New Orleans to do missionary work. Her work as “church visitor” soon included some work with the women as well. Contact with the recently organized Woman’s Missionary Union of Louisiana opened her eyes to the needs for Christ and for mission endeavors throughout the state. She was elected to be the first full-time, paid executive director/treasurer of WMU in Louisiana. In this role she engaged women in churches with God’s mission that people might come to know the Savior. Telling the stories of God at work from south Louisiana to north, from east to west. Hundreds of hand-written letters to churches and women’s groups effectively led Louisiana Baptists to pray fervently for state missions. She challenged them to give to state missions. She encouraged their personal involvement.

Annie Armstrong

In 1888, Armstrong led the creation of the Woman's Missionary Union, helping draft the constitution and serving as its first correspondent secretary. In her role as the head of the organization, Annie Armstrong facilitated communication between denominational leaders, local congregations and missionaries on the field. She was an extensive letter writer, handwriting 18,000 letters in one year alone. During her tenure as head of the WMU, Armstrong refused a salary and traveled extensively at her own expense on behalf of the WMU. Annie was a tireless advocate for missionaries rallying the churches to support mission work through prayer and sacrificial giving. She personally visited missionaries serving throughout the U.S. and carried their stories back to the churches and state conventions through her eyewitness accounts and by circulating their letters. It was due to the efforts of Annie and the women of WMU that the annual Easter mission offering was established in the Southern Baptist Churches in 1895.

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief

When you’ve seen a disaster on the news in the last 50 years, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) volunteers were already on the scene—and they remained long after news cameras left town. As the third-largest disaster response group in the nation, this network of state-based volunteers teams does more than just clean up; they bring the healing of Christ to those whose lives have been shattered.
